When I was Pep’s age my hair was straight as a board. I would spend money on stinky perms to get waves and curls. Pep’s hair has this funky wave that she and I both complain about (sometimes me more than her). We have a decent flat iron but it literally takes over an hour to decently flat iron her hair because it is so thick.
Pep has been asking for one of these newer ceramic hair straightening brushes and we’ve seen quite a few of them in the mall but they are just too expensive. I found this ProCabello Hair Straightening Brush on Amazon a few weeks ago and through a discount was able to purchase it.
The hair brush came nicely packaged and in comes in several colors. I picked purple because there was no camo color (seriously she would want it in Camo).
The brush has a swiveling 360° degree cord and heats up to 450° Fahrenheit. The big sell was the increasing shine, less frizz and a noticeable difference in 5 weeks. Well they haven’t met Pep’s hair so we would just have to see.

Pep and I both took turns brushing her hair in sections. She liked how the brush didn’t burn, though her hair did get hot. We originally started on a lower heat setting in the 200s but it wasn’t making much of a dent in the wavy hair so we upped the temperature. The buttons are on the side of the brush and she I both were constantly changing the heat setting which was really my only complaint. She did enjoy the massage effect of the brush as well. After about 30 minutes this is where we ended up.
Not all of the wave is out but it’s much better and it’s in half the amount of time we use with a flat iron.
On Day 2 and 3 she used the brush for no more than 15 minutes. We are in the middle of Hurricane Irma preparations and beautiful hair is not at the top of the priority list.
Today she decided to use the brush again on her own and gave her self 15 minutes to see what she could do with it. She again was brushing it in sections.
Her hair feels soft, looks much healthier and while there is still a little wave left, it is much straighter than normal in a quarter of the time. She is very happy with the ProCabello Hair Straightening Brush
